Washington head coach Chris Petersen announced Friday that Cyler Miles will take a voluntary leave of absence from football activities this spring due to personal reasons.

Miles was suspended for all of spring practices in 2014 for a violation of team rules, but Washington’s statement specifically says this year’s absence is not a disciplinary matter.

The junior Miles started 11 games for the Huskies last season, missing the season opener against Hawaii as part of his suspension and a loss against Arizona State with a concussion. He threw for 2,397 yards and 17 touchdowns with only four interceptions.

Junior Jeff Lundquist, redshirt freshman K.J. Carta-Samuels and 4-star true freshman Jake Browning are the remaining scholarship quarterbacks on Washington’s 2015 spring roster. Lundquist is the only one with game experience, going 10-of-30 passing for 162 yards and one touchdown in 2014.
