CBC announcer Elliotte Friedman declared “Ryan Lochte is going to beat Michael Phelps in this event in the games, and Phelps might not even make the podium.” Unfortunately for Friedman, he put Lochte in Phelps’ lane. Phelps captured gold by a significant margin while Lochte finished fifth.

Friedman was quick to recognize the error, saying, “I apologize. I got my lanes mixed up.” It was an honest mistake from a veteran announcer.
