While Ubisoft had previously confirmed that Watch Dogs Legion would be releasing on current-gen platforms and PC on October 29th, its next-gen release dates were up in the air, since the release dates for the next-gen consoles themselves were still a mystery.

Those who want to play the game on newer hardware thankfully won’t have to wait too long, as the gap between release dates is only just over a week, but Ubisoft has reminded everyone that anyone who purchases the game for Xbox One or PlayStation 4 will be entitled to a free next-gen upgrade.
With the PlayStation 5’s release date still a complete unknown at the time of writing, the wait could be longer for those planning to purchase Sony’s console instead. The theory is that the PS5 will release in November as well and, if Watch Dogs Legion is a launch title for the Xbox Series X, it’s probably a safe assumption that it will be the same for PS5. Or, at the very least, it will come out shortly after the PS5’s release.
This isn’t the only Ubisoft title fans can look forward to on the Xbox Series X’s launch date. In a surprise move, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which was originally going to release on November 17th, has been moved up to release on the same day as the console.
In other Ubisoft news, the publisher will be hosting another Ubisoft Forward event tomorrow, where we can most likely expect to see Watch Dogs Legions and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla be featured in some capacity. The big draws, though, are the revamped Gods & Monsters, now titled Immortals: Fenyx Rising, and the rumored Prince of Persia remake.
However, the announcement of the new Ubisoft Forward came not too long after Ubisoft found itself mired in a new controversy regarding its mobile game Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad. Upon release, the game’s terrorist organization antagonist was featured with a logo that looked basically identical to the one used for the Black Lives Matter movement. The logo has since been removed, but Ubisoft announcing new games so soon afterwards has drawn accusations that the company is already trying to distract people from the controversy.
Watch Dogs: Legion will release for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One on October 29th and for Xbox Series X on November 10th. It will release for PlayStation 5 at an unknown date.
