The Galaxy’s Western Conference semifinal first leg against the Colorado Rapids was scoreless in the 55th minute Sunday when Dos Santos put the home side on top.
Marauding center back Jelle Van Damme found himself in possession on the left side of the box before evading a challenge from Michael Azira and hitting a cross that Dos Santos nodded toward goal, with Rapids defender Axel Sjoberg redirecting the ball into the net while attempting a goal-line clearance.
The Galaxy held on for the 1-0 win, giving them an advantage entering next Sunday’s second leg at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
