Fixture pile-up shows Man Utd are ‘in trouble’
Ahead of their UEFA Europa League clash with Saint-Etienne on Thursday, Larsson said Mourinho will require more time to get the team up to his desired level but remains convinced he’s the right man for the job.
“It’s always going to be difficult to replace a man like Sir Alex Ferguson, of course, and it’s going to take some time to build a new team and a new squad,” Larsson said.
“I think [Mourinho] is the right man to do it."
The Red Devils are battling their way back up the Premier League table in pursuit of a return to UEFA Champions League football next season and have made it to the round of 32 in the Europa League.
“To be able to win [the UEFA Europa League], that would be fantastic,” added Larsson, who also says world-record signing Paul Pogba will have a major impact at Old Trafford.
“Pogba has already shown that he is a quality player.
“He is still young and there is a lot more to come from him.”
